Affiliate Disclosure

The required disclosure

Binge Base is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

As an Amazon Associate, Binge Base earns from qualifying purchases.

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click through and make a purchase, Binge Base may earn a small commission — at no additional cost to you.

What that means in plain English

Some links on Binge Base — usually links to physical media (Blu-rays, box sets), streaming hardware (Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV, Fire TV), books about the franchise, or related products — are affiliate links. When you click one and buy something, the retailer pays Binge Base a small percentage of the sale.

You pay the same price either way. The commission doesn’t come out of your pocket. It comes out of the retailer’s margin.

What the affiliate link doesn’t change

The editorial recommendations on Binge Base don’t change because of affiliate programs. An entry doesn’t get tagged “essential” because it has a higher commission rate. The framework lives on the Editorial Standards page and applies the same way whether a link is affiliate or not.

If Larry recommends one streaming device over another for a particular use case, it’s because Larry thinks it’s the better recommendation. If both happen to be affiliate links, the recommendation is still the recommendation.

If a call ever comes down to “what’s actually best for the reader” vs. “what pays better,” the reader wins. That’s the rule.

Programs currently in use

  • Amazon Associates — for physical media, streaming hardware, and related products

Programs that may be added later

  • Streaming platform affiliate programs, where they exist and where Larry actually uses the platform
  • Other retailers, if a franchise’s physical media is best sourced somewhere other than Amazon
  • Display advertising via Google AdSense (this is advertising, not affiliate, but it’s a paid relationship and gets disclosed here for the same reason)

Any new affiliate program gets added to this list when it goes live. Same with advertising networks.

Per-page disclosure

In addition to this page, every Binge Map with affiliate links carries a disclosure near the links themselves — so you can see the relationship without having to come find this page. That’s what FTC guidelines require, and it’s how Binge Base operates regardless.
